IWC Schaffhausen

The "Engineers of fine watchmaking" produce men's watches. Timepieces with intelligent designs in a timelessly classical style.

An American and his pioneering spirit brought IWC to Schaffhausen. The Swiss watch manufactory has been setting standards in technological development and highly complicated precision watchmaking since 1868.

With its 142-year history, IWC is one of the pioneers of the Swiss watch industry. IWC is a highly emotional brand with an exciting and fast-changing corporate history and a rich past. Our founder, the American Florentine Ariosto Jones, had the vision and the self-assurance needed to put his business ideas into effect. He founded the International Watch Company in Schaffhausen in 1868 and used Swiss horological craftsmanship to produce high-quality pocket watch movements for the American market. In a location not far from the Rhine Falls, the young manufactory utilized the energy of the river for its modern production. In doing so, Jones brought about a horological revolution to Switzerland, at the time a low-wage economy.

These roots and the development of the brand make a fascinating combination. A passion for brilliant inventions, technical refinements and horological milestones are, and always were, the driving force behind the engineers at IWC. Men with a flair for technology and a taste for discreet luxury choose our haute horlogerie products in the Portuguese and Da Vinci families, to say nothing of our speciality products. The Ingenieur line and our watches for divers and pilots with their professional features and functions, on the other hand, are the favourites of sportsmen, adventurers and people who are looking for a robust and dependable timepiece with an attractive design for everyday use.
